Excellent Turnout for the 2012 NEC Advantage Executive Conference

Last month, more than 500 NEC channel partners, consultants and representatives gathered at the Saddlebrook Conference Center near Tampa, Florida for the 2012 NEC Advantage Executive Conference. An annual event, the conference is designed to reinforce NEC’s channel-management strategy and introduce the company’s solutions and product roadmap for the current fiscal year.

NEC's Jay Krauser discusses UNIVERGE Cloud Services at the 2012 Advantage Executive Conference.“The Empowered Workforce” was this year’s conference theme, consistent with NEC’s presence earlier in the year at Enterprise Connect 2012 in Orlando. NEC highlighted technologies that respond to today’s evolving workforce, which is highly social, more mobile and accustomed to on-demand communications. Throughout the three-day event, channel partners attended demos, training and breakout sessions for various solutions within the NEC UNIVERGE® family of products, including 3C, the SV8000 platforms, Cloud Services, Unified Communications for Enterprise (UCE) and Unified Communications for Business (UCB).

A few of the opportunities and topics discussed throughout the event included:

  • Communicating and collaborating in the cloud
  • Getting started with UNIVERGE 3C™
  • SV8000 migration strategies
  • SMB & vertical-specific solutions

NEC partner sponsorships help make the Advantage Executive Conference possible.Additionally, the Innovations Showcase included exhibits from other technology partners as well as NEC divisions, including NEC Financial Services, NEC Document Solutions and NEC Corporation of Japan.

“The Advantage Invitational showcases NEC’s direction, products and industry in an engaging, social environment,” says Larry Levenberg, channel sales marketing vice president, NEC Enterprise Communications Technologies.  “The goal is for our channel dealers and consultants to build relationships and hopefully leave with valuable, relevant information that will help make their business more productive throughout the year.”

In addition, 10 channel partners also received the NEC Sales and Marketing Leadership Award during the conference. The annual award has been established to recognize dealer organizations that have made significant achievements in sales, marketing and/or community initiatives. Dealer organizations are nominated by their NEC account managers. This year’s award recipients include:

  • Armstrong Telecom (Binghamton, NY)
  • Parallel Technologies (Dublin, Ohio)
  • TeleCom Business Solutions

Not Your Typical Orthodontist’s Office

Appealing to kids and car enthusiasts, Dr. Dave Myers’ hot rod orthodontic office in Conway, AR, is designed to feel anything but usual. The whole space is transformed to a 50’s era theme, from the walls and the floor to the memorabilia that makes patients excited to visit.

“All of the décor helps my patients feel more comfortable and creates a fun vibe within the office,” says Dr. Dave. “My patients aren’t just coming to get a check-up when they visit. When they step into my office, they go back into the 50’s with old cars, gas stations and drive-ins.”

NEC-orthodontists-car-univerge-sv8100-2And helping to make sure it all runs smoothly? NEC’s UNIVERGE SV8100 server, which helps streamline communication and keep up with Dr. Dave’s growing business.

“With the help of NEC, we are able to field calls, schedule appointments and give our patients better service,” said Dr. Dave. “NEC’s SV8100 server helps our office stay organized and share information efficiently with our satellite office, which is very important as we continue to grow.”

Learn How to Make Your Device UC Smart (Part 1)

UCE MC550Communication has come a long way since the 90s, yet, with so many different modes of communication, it’s often hard to keep track of it all – work phone, cell phone, home phone, laptop, desktop, tablet.

That’s why NEC is making mobile UC more available, by allowing you to access your solutions from the device of your choosing. The new Web version of the UCE Desktop and UCE Mobility works on Apple Mac®, iPad™ and thin client environments, and is supported by multiple web browsers including Google™ Chrome, Apple Safari®, Mozilla® FireFox® and Microsoft® Internet Explorer.

With UC for Enterprise, you are reachable without being tied down to a single location or mode of communication. Whether you prefer to use a smartphone, tablet or computer, you can stay connected via the Web-based interface. NEC’s mobile UC solutions add convenience, which allow you to be more productive and efficient with your workload.

Below are a few of the benefits of NEC’s UCE Mobility (UNIVERGE MC550), part of the UCE suite.

  • Single number reach – Forget all your different phone numbers. When you receive an incoming call, all phones will ring simultaneously, according to the contact rules you preset to determine how and when you’d like to be reached.
  • Single voicemail box – Don’t worry about missing a call or not knowing which voicemail to check. All unanswered calls are directed to your business voicemail account, to create a single voicemail box.
  • Enhanced mobile presence – Wondering if your contacts are available? Instantly determine other UCE users’ real-time status and availability via your desktop client on your smartphone.
  • Intuitive interfaces – Sometimes you are busy and we understand that. Now, you can easily set contact rules through your computer and change your status via their web-browser on any smartphone.
  • Enterprise dialing via smartphone – Used to just dialing your colleagues extension? Just because you’re on your smartphone doesn’t mean you have to stop. NEC enables station-to-station and external dialing through the enterprise switch to give you quick access to all your coworkers.
  • Improved efficiency and productivity– If you want to create a little more time in your day, NEC can help you streamline communications and information delivery by handling calls more promptly from wherever you are.
  • Increased customer satisfaction – Want to leave a positive impression on your customers? Deliver excellent customer service by providing customers with a single number that can be used to reach their contact on the first try and they’ll have no complaints.

BAI Cuts Costs and Helps Eliminate Administrative Hassles with NEC Unified Communications

UNIVERGE® Sphericall’s high reliability and robust features enable flexibility and business continuity

IRVING, TX, April 21, 2009 — NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. (NEC), a leading communications solutions integrator, today announced that BAI, a financial services industry research firm, has experienced significant operational cost savings and efficiency improvements using NEC’s UNIVERGE® Sphericall pure software-based IP communications solution.

“UNIVERGE Sphericall works on standard servers utilizing a simple licensing model, and, in addition, we no longer have to rely on a service provider to make simple changes to our call routing requirements. As a result, we are currently saving about $1,500 per month on support costs alone,” said Jim DiNapoli, senior manager of networking for BAI. “We have found that Sphericall provides applications that fit the needs of our executives, call center agents and support staff. NEC designed technology around the role of the individual which, in our experience, has led to a reliable, highly effective and easy-to-use unified communications solution.”

UNIVERGE Sphericall is a 100-percent software-based alternative to traditional telephony that leverages open standards for flexible, IP-based unified communications (UC). BAI leverages three elements of the Sphericall enterprise softswitch at its Chicago and St. Louis sites, including:

Sphericall Desktop for instant messaging, click-to-call and presence-based call routing
Sphericall MeetingHub™ for centralized, simultaneous multi-party conferencing for up to 60 participants
Sphericall Manager for complete call control, seamless connectivity and call load-balancing for full redundancy
Prior to deploying Sphericall, BAI used a traditional voice solution that was complicated, expensive and difficult to manage without additional third party service charges.

UNIVERGE Sphericall allows BAI to enhance many different employee roles. The St. Louis site supports BAI’s online training offerings and Sphericall’s customized routing includes presence-based forwarding and voicemail rules. The administration of call routing is easy and can be changed remotely, allowing the BAI support team to stay operational even in instances of inclement weather when support calls may need to be handled via cell phones. Sphericall soft phones are very convenient for BAI’s remote trainers, who use this feature to conduct training anywhere, anytime. Additionally, supported Polycom® phones have made it easy and cost effective for BAI to set up remote offices.

By placing people at the center of business communications and identifying the employee’s role, NEC helps organizations such as BAI build a unified infrastructure, which is enabled by unified communications, integrated with business processes and supported by partnerships and services.
